Transformation

The Lenten season runs from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday.  It includes 40 days, excluding Sundays, which are like little Easters.
   Why 40 days?
The number 40 pops up well over 100 times in the Bible.  It is the number days Jesus was tempted by the devil in the wilderness before he began his public ministries.
It is the number of years the children of Israel wandered in the desert before they were allowed to enter the promised land, and the number of days spies did recon in the land before the people entered it.
Rain fell for 40 days and 40 nights before Noah’s ark, Elijah fasted for 40 days on Mt. Horeb, and there were 40 days between Jesus’ resurrection and ascension.
It seems to mark off times of change.
What Christian transformation will you experience in your 40 days this year?
