Easter Engagement

Sally and I were at the movies the other day and noted (it was hard not to) that the woman sitting two seats away from her had removed her shoes before pushing back her recliner. The man sitting next to Sally also removed his shoes.  And his socks.
That image came to mind when I saw a photo of a church sign on Facebook.  It promoted a , “Drive-through Crucifixion….weather permitting…no charge...come share the joy of Easter with us!”
Our culture supports the view that everything exists for our individual entertainment.
   We should always be comfortable.
We should expect that being a spectator to the Gospel is enough.
Easter is a message of pure grace.  But, it must never be forgotten that, as Dietrich Bonhoeffer said, grace is free, but it is never cheap.
Jesus didn’t die for our comfort or entertainment. He died for our salvation.
